I have two society finched they had 6 eggs in nest. The male won't let the female sit on the eggs he will once in a while also. What is causing this and how can I make sure is won't happen again. will eggs hatch? what happened

Have this pair bred before and if so, was it successful?

How old are the eggs and what type of nest ?

Any other birds in with this couple ?

How big is this cage or aviary?

no they are in there own cage, the eggs where laid on June 26,27,28. the cage is 16 by 16 and it is 24 inches high with a roof like a house on it. Total is 24 inches high.

Thank you for the additional information. Do you have a nest box for them or is this in regular finch nest (a covered straw-type nest with a hole entrance)?

Have you been checking regularly on the eggs?

About how old are these two?

Are you absolutely certain you've got a male and female? Two females will be able to lay eggs (although they won't be fertile).

no they have not bread before,they are in there own cage, the eggs where laid on june 26,27,28, the cage has a roof like a house had on it. It measures 16 by16 and is 24inches high

Yes the nest in a straw like nest with hole in middle, yes i check on them but haven't toughed any of them, i know one is at least 2 yrs but the other on i just bought maybe a month ago. yes im sure they are a pair on has orange cheeks and the other does not.
