I have two society finched they had 6 eggs in nest. The male won't let the female sit on the eggs he will once in a while also. What is causing this and how can I make sure is won't happen again. will eggs hatch? what happened

no they are in there own cage, the eggs where laid on June 26,27,28. the cage is 16 by 16 and it is 24 inches high with a roof like a house on it. Total is 24 inches high.

Yes the nest in a straw like nest with hole in middle, yes i check on them but haven't toughed any of them, i know one is at least 2 yrs but the other on i just bought maybe a month ago. yes im sure they are a pair on has orange cheeks and the other does not.
