My Guildion finch died after sitting on the

My Guildion finch died after sitting on the bottom of the cage, but still able to fly back to the perch. All my other finches (7) are fine.

What would have caused this? I change the water daily and always have fresh seed (Petsmart)

What else should I add to their diet besides seed?
